The proceeds from this event fund an account, which is used to finance a music scholarship in the name of James Lawrence Deak. Unfortunately, Jimmy passed away in 2002 after fighting a losing battle with cancer. Jimmy Deak was a lifetime resident of Watertown, CT and was the guitarist for The Shine, a very popular local band in late 80s and early 90s. Although Jimmy was blind, he was an inspiration to all around him. He was an incredible musician whose contribution to local music was simply immeasurable.
